Read the letter: John Tierney, through his July 14 column "Title IX a New Frontier: Science,"provided an opportunity for AWIS to remind educational institutions receiving federal funding, federal agencies, and Tierney himself that Title IX is the law. Compliance reviews are not a new initiative and should have been conducted over the last 36 years, since the law's inception.

Read the report: Bias Literacy: A Review of Concepts in Research on Discrimination is a synopsis of the terms used when talking about bias and discrimination. The report helps answer the questions: When do we claim that someone is discriminating and is biased? How do we arrive at that assessment? The report is concerned primarily with women and science, and hopes improve dialogue by isolating the basics.

Press Release: The AWIS Magazine earned the APEX 2008 Award of Excellence in Magazine and Journal Design and Layout from the 20th annual APEX Awards for Publication Excellence: A Competition for Communications Professionals. The award comes after the magazine's complete overhaul in 2006, which included stylistic and content changes inside and out.
