Branding is the best way to give your audience insight into who you are and what you offer. It’s also a wonderful way to inspire others to connect to and act on your desired goals. In the age of technology, researchers and non-researchers alike can benefit from crafting their own social media brands. Jazmine Benjamin will provide tools and action items to create your own brand, expand your network, and foster collaborations

Meet the Speaker

Jazmine I. Benjamin is a Biomedical Sciences Ph.D. candidate in the Division of Nephrology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, Alabama. Her research is focused on investigating sodium independent mechanisms of blood pressure control. Her ultimate career goal is a position in science policy as an analyst or as a director for communications and outreach efforts.

Jazmine serves as the President of the graduate student body at UAB. She is also a committee member on a variety of task forces dedicated to keeping the population at UAB safe and operational during the COVID-19 outbreak. In 2019, Jazmine co-founded the Science Policy and Advocacy Initiative, the first comprehensive science policy group in the state of Alabama. In addition to her work on campus, Jazmine is also the graduate fellow for the Alabama chapter of the Scholars Strategy Network and a member of the National Science Policy Network. Jazmine is a staunch advocate for representation in STEM and often uses her platform to share her experiences and mentor younger students and graduate student colleagues.
