What’s the most important leadership lesson you’ve learned?

Real leadership is found in how you handle “edge cases,” i.e., the outliers in your data and your team. In failure, a leader never looks for blame; they identify the systemic cause and fix the process. True impact is made by turning anomalies into insights and obstacles into improved systems.

What do you consider to be your most important career achievement or milestone?

My most important career milestone would being in a position where I can communicate my science to a general audience effectively.

What do you aspire to accomplish in your career and why? What obstacles will you overcome?

I aim to be a translational researcher, bridging the gap between research and patient care, to make improvements in patient healthcare.

Describe an amazing opportunity in your STEM career.

My first international exposure to Sci Life Lab in Sweden, where I worked on understanding deep learning architectures for disease-causing mutation identification.

How was AWIS helped you professionally and/or personally?

AWIS allows me to work with women leaders from STEM and learn from their experiences and expertise.

What is your favorite word? (only one word)

Consistency.

How do you define it?

Consistency is the compounding of small, disciplined actions. It’s delivering quality work reliably, maintaining a growth-oriented routine, and building trust through predictable excellence. In science and life, consistency turns daily effort into discovery.

How has this word influenced or inspired your career?

Consistency is the bedrock of my career. In the face of complex research and steep learning curves, it keeps me grounded. It’s the daily commitment to incremental progress that transforms tough times into breakthroughs and turns a long research journey into a series of successes.

How does AWIS impact your career journey?

AWIS gives me an opportunity to learn from other’s journey, which allows me to gain confidence and leadership skills.

What are you currently reading or listening to?

I am reading Ram: Scion of Ikshvaku by Amish Tripathi, which is mythological fiction.

What do you consider the best professional or personal advice you’ve ever received?

Say no when needed. It helps you focus on high-impact projects that truly matter. By avoiding side quests, you protect your energy for meaningful breakthroughs. Saying no to distractions allows you to say yes to the deep work that defines your legacy.
