Sylvia Acevedo is a rocket scientist, entrepreneur, tech executive, and author of Path to the Stars: My Journey from Girl Scout to Rocket Scientist. She was one of the first Hispanic students to earn a graduate engineering degree from Stanford University. While her career started at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, she also worked as an engineer and executive at Apple, Autodesk, Dell, and IBM. Acevedo is also a strong voice for girls’ education in the STEM industry. She served as CEO of Girl Scouts from 2016-2020 and added more than 100 badges in STEM and the outdoors to their programming. She has been named one of Fast Company’s “100 Most Creative People in Business,” number seven on InStyle’s list of “50 Women Who Are Changing the World,” and one of the Forbes Top 50 Women in American Tech.
