Her role blends technical expertise, mentorship, and a commitment to growth—driven by her belief that science is limitless and that every action has purpose. Whether she’s leading in the classroom or learning from her young daughter’s joyful curiosity, Mia’s story is one of dedication, discovery, and bold steps forward.

What does a typical day in your role look like?

I’m currently an instructor, teaching junior sailors on the basic knowledge of FA-18’s, along with getting them qualified to work on the jet.

The Path to Aerospace Maintenance

I started college in 2013 and stop to join the Navy in 2016. Since then I’ve been a jet engine mechanic on FA-18’s for 9 years.

My oldest daughter is 2 years old, and she loves playing with the water in the sink. I always tell her to save the water for the fish, and now she tells me and everybody else that!

I make a check list, always do something even if it’s one thing good for my career, and take a deep breath.
