Recruit High-Performing Talent
Make AWIS part of your recruitment strategy and
reach thousands of women in science and STEM.
We understand the issues facing recruiters today.
With remote work options and scientists looking at opportunities abroad, you are competing with more companies than ever. Economic uncertainty is affecting recruitment. Gen Z and Gen alpha are looking to join organizations that value inclusivity and adopt the latest technologies, and existing employees need to upskill.
Universities are facing extreme funding cuts, challenges to curriculum, and scrutiny of inclusivity efforts that impact your ability to recruit the faculty you need to serve your students.
AWIS makes finding STEM talent faster and easier with new skills-based matching technology.
Our new skills-based technology will help you find qualified STEM professionals faster and more efficiently. Your hiring managers can choose from over 8000 technical STEM skills to define their ideal candidate. Jobseekers will build their profile using this same taxonomy. The algorithm will then show the job to candidates that match the required and preferred skills.
“Skills-first hiring expands talent pools and sources better quality candidates than resume-screening alone.”
FastCompany, October 2024
"91% of organizations that made the cultural shift to skills-based hiring experienced better retention rates than traditional hiring methods."
TestGorilla, 2024
"Skills-based hiring is 2x more predictive of job performance than hiring for work experience and 5x more predictive than a degree."
McKinsey & Co., 2022
What do we mean by skills-based?
The system will match the technical STEM skills that you require and/or prefer with the skills that candidates possess. Other platforms don’t offer this level of specificity when it comes to technical STEM skills. In addition, the smart algorithm has been programmed to understand the nuances in the STEM taxonomy. For example, if a job requires experience with biochemical assays, a typical ATS platform would look for the words “biochemical assays” on a resume. Our technology knows that “Western Blot” or “ELISA” are types of biochemical assays and would include those in the search parameters.

By using skills as an objective measure, you will avoid unqualified candidates and expand your candidate pool at the same time. If you only look for people with a specific degree or job experience, you may overlook potential candidates who have the desired technical skills but not a specific prior role or a specific degree listed on their resume – the ‘paper ceiling.’
