What’s the most important leadership lesson you’ve learned?

I’ve learned the value of fostering collaboration and adaptability. Effective leadership is not just about guiding a team, but also about listening, understanding diverse perspectives, and empowering others to contribute their best.

What do you consider to be your most important career achievement or milestone?

Leading the implementation of Universal Proposal System at Argonne National Laboratory.

What do you aspire to accomplish in your career and why? What obstacles will you overcome?

I want to streamline processes and improve contributor engagement in STEM organizations by developing innovative systems that balance efficiency with compliance. I will need to overcome such obstacles as navigating regulatory complexities, integrating systems, and fostering alignment.

Describe an amazing opportunity in your STEM career.

Leading the Argonne Enterprise Registration System (AERS) initiative. This project allowed me to design and implement a centralized system that integrates data from multiple applications, streamlines access for contributors, and enhances governance.

How was AWIS helped you professionally and/or personally?

AWIS has been instrumental in connecting me with a network of inspiring STEM professionals who share a passion for advancing diversity and innovation. Through AWIS, I’ve gained access to valuable resources, mentorship opportunities, and a supportive community.

What is your favorite word? (only one word)

Resilience

How do you define it?

Resilience is the ability to adapt, recover, and thrive in the face of challenges and change.

How has this word influenced or inspired your career?

Resilience has been a guiding principle throughout my career, inspiring me to navigate complex projects, overcome obstacles, and lead with determination. It reminds me to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and to remain focused on achieving impactful outcomes.

AWIS has provided a platform to connect with like-minded professionals, share experiences, and access resources that support career advancement.

What do you consider the best professional or personal advice you’ve ever received?

Focus on progress, not perfection. It taught me that incremental improvements and adaptability are key to achieving long-term success. By focusing on progress, I’ve been able to lead teams with confidence, foster collaboration, and deliver impactful solutions.
