What is your favorite word?
Motivation
How do you define it?
The innate desire to accomplish something great.
How has this word influenced or inspired your career?
My motivation is my fuel. It keeps me going even on days I feel defeated or low. It’s the reason I’m here and will keep going.
What do you consider to be your most important career achievement or milestone?
So far, joining the biotech/pharmaceutical industry in Boston. I never thought a girl from the South side of San Antonio would ever make it here.
What do you aspire to accomplish in your career and why? What obstacles will you overcome?
I hope to become a leader in research and a role model for other Latinas trying to break into the industry.

What makes you different also makes you valuable. You bring a new and different perspective to the table so make sure to voice it.
Born and raised in San Antonio and daughter of Mexican immigrants, Florencia Salinas has a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and Master of Science in Biology. She is currently a researcher at Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma America where they study neurodegenerative diseases using patient iPSC-derived neurons. She would like to further apply her strengths and experience to help develop cell and/or gene therapeutics. She is always open to networking and is currently looking to transition to a new and more challenging role to further advance her career.
