AWIS to Support MacGillivary Freeman’s Latest Film for IMAX and Giant-Screen Theaters
Superhuman Body to appear in Select Museums and Science Centers with Meet the Scientist Events

WASHINGTON DC, March 26, 2024 – The Association for Women in Science (AWIS) will support the latest project of MacGillivary Freeman Films, the world’s leading producer and distributor of giant-screen films, called Superhuman Body: World of Medical Marvels and narrated by Academy Award® winner Matthew McConaughey. Developed for family audiences, this film for IMAX® and giant-screen theaters will be released into museums and science centers in select markets this Spring. Members of AWIS will attend Meet the Scientist and Girls Night Out events to inspire students to engage in STEM careers.

Superhuman Body: World of Medical Marvels takes audiences inside the wonders of the human body and the incredible breakthroughs in science and bioengineering that are changing the course of human health. Told through the inspiring stories of the researchers, doctors, scientists and everyday people behind these ground-breaking medical innovations, Superhuman Body shows the extraordinary ways our bodies work – and how science and technology help us to intervene when things go wrong.

“We are delighted to support this film that highlights the brilliant, curious, and passionate scientists working to keep us safe, healthy, and informed,” said Meredith Gibson, AWIS CEO. “AWIS has thousands of members across the nation who enjoy sharing their love of science with the next generation. Superhuman Body and the Meet the Scientist events will show students, especially girls, an array of role models in STEM.”

“We make films to tell the human stories behind today’s biggest discoveries,” said film producer Shaun MacGillivary, President of MacGillivary Freeman Films. “Superhuman Body will show students the tremendous positive impact that medical professionals can have on individuals and society. We hope to encourage more youth to choose STEM careers by seeing role models on screen and by meeting AWIS members at screening events.”

Superhuman Body: World of Medical Marvels is a MacGillivray Freeman film presented by Edwards Lifesciences and Griffin Catalyst.  For more information, visit www.superhumanbodyfilm.com.
