AWIS Announces Partnership with the Allen Institute

WASHINGTON DC, June 2, 2023 – The Association for Women in Science (AWIS) is pleased to announce that the Allen Institute is the latest organization to join its partner program. The two non-profit organizations will work to support each other’s missions. The mission of the Allen Institute is to unlock the complexities of bioscience through big, team, and open science approaches aimed at catalyzing scientific discovery. The mission of AWIS is to ensure that women in science can achieve their full potential.

“High-quality science can only be produced when it includes different perspectives,” said Kayla Griffith, Talent Acquisition Partner at the Allen Institute. “Women are still underrepresented and underrecognized in science, and we want to do our part to help change that.”

“We are committed to including and advancing women in science through mentoring, internships, and career development. We are excited about the potential of this partnership to support our commitment and to remove barriers to including women in STEM,” said Hongkui Zeng, Executive Vice President, Director of Allen Institute for Brain Science.

“Diverse teams are needed to tackle large-scale, ambitious projects at an accelerated pace. AWIS programs can help the Allen Institute establish valuable connections with potential employees and collaborators, develop existing Allen employees into leaders, and spark ideas and insights through our content and community,” said Meredith Gibson, AWIS CEO. “In addition, AWIS will be able to expand the reach of Allen Institute’s educational resources by disseminating them to our members and supporters.”
