WASHINGTON DC, August 15, 2024 –The Association for Women in Science (AWIS) is now accepting nominations for its 2024 Annual Awards. AWIS members may nominate themselves or encourage others to apply if they demonstrate strong leadership, innovative thinking, and a commitment to inclusivity, diversity, equity, and accessibility. Non-members may join AWIS during the award cycle to get access to the application platform.

“The Annual AWIS Awards recognize our members who have made significant contributions to increasing workplace diversity, promoted women into leadership positions, and advocated for more inclusive practices in STEM,” said Meredith Gibson, CEO of AWIS. “We look forward to celebrating our members and the positive impact they are contributing to their organizations and the scientific community.”

There are three categories of awards:

  • Spark Award – Highlights a student or early career leader in STEM who is a visible and vocal advocate for diversity and inclusive scientific practices.
  • Meridian Award – Recognizes a mid-career professional whose diversity and inclusion efforts represent a true leader in the pursuit of workplace equity.
