AWIS Announces 2025 Advocacy Scholars Program
AWIS members who are graduate students can apply by February 3, 2025

WASHINGTON DC, January 10, 2025 – The Association for Women in Science (AWIS) will sponsor one to two members to attend the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Catalyzing Advocacy in Science and Engineering (CASE) Workshop. This workshop is an exciting opportunity to learn from science policy and advocacy experts about the role of science in policymaking and the federal policymaking process. Graduate students are encouraged to apply by February 3, 2025.

The CASE workshop will be held in Washington, DC from April 6-9, 2025. AWIS will pay for the member(s) to travel and attend the event. The member(s) will join the AWIS Advocacy Committee for two years and have an opportunity to serve a leadership role.

If you are an AWIS member who is passionate about civic engagement, want to learn more about federal policymaking, and have an interest in science communication, consider applying to be an AWIS Advocacy Scholar.

“I had no idea what to expect when I arrived in Washington, DC for the AAAS CASE conference last year,” said 2024 Advocacy Scholar Bailey McLagan. “I was amazed by how much I learned about advocacy, the federal government, and jobs outside of academia and industry.”
