Danielle Ignace is an enrolled member of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe. She earned her PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Arizona. As Associate Professor in the Department of Forest Resources at the University of Minnesota, her research explores how climate change, fire, and other global forces affect ecosystems and Indigenous lands. She is also a Research Associate at Harvard Forest. As a professor and science communicator, she champions Indigenous knowledge in environmental research and leads national efforts to expand equity and representation in STEM. Her contributions have earned her recognition, including the Excellence in Ecology award from the Ecological Society of America.
