Jani Ingram, PhD

Jani Ingram, PhD, is a chemist and environmental health researcher. She is a member of the Navajo tribe and Naneesht’ezhi clan. Ingram earned her PhD in chemistry from the University of Arizona and is a Regents’ Professor at Northern Arizona University. Her research focuses on uranium and arsenic exposure from abandoned mines on Navajo lands and its impact on public health. Ingram is also a leader in STEM outreach, recruiting and mentoring more than 200 American Indian/Alaska Native students in chemistry and related STEM disciplines. She is the recipient of several awards for her work, including the 2024 Ely S. Parker Award from Advancing Indigenous People in STEM (AISES), and the 2025 Distinguished Scientist honor from the Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS).
