WASHINGTON DC, March 15, 2024 – The Association for Women in Science (AWIS) is accepting nominations for directors for the July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2027 term. The 2024 AWIS Board Nominations cycle will conclude with an election to fill four director positions on the board. Anyone who would like to further the AWIS mission of gender equity is encouraged to apply.

“Joining the AWIS Board of Directors allows you to make an impact on the future of women in STEM. We’re looking for diverse candidates to bring a richness of perspectives, experiences, and skills that can drive innovation and success to AWIS’ members and community,” says AWIS CEO Meredith Gibson.

The Nominating and Governance Committee utilizes a competency and multi-representational model for board member selection. This year’s key competencies that are being prioritized include expertise in financial literacy, accounting, capital, and equity management, auditing, and financial expertise. Additionally, nominees with experience in strategic planning and foresight, legal and advocacy issues, STEM workforce knowledge, program development, fundraising, and experience fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are encouraged to apply.

Interested and qualified individuals should review the job description, expectations, and responsibilities.
