We’re gearing up for new programs and benefits to amplify the AWIS member experience. You may increase your screen time, but it’ll all be worth it!

In honor of ADHD Awareness Month in October, we are hosting a screening of Neurodivergent. The 25-minute documentary follows a 35-year-old film student, who is diagnosed with ADHD. Director Afton Quast Saler turns the camera on herself and questions a lifetime of misdiagnosis, mental haze, and physical ailments that are compounded by those unceasing gardeners outside! This serious topic is handled with surprising charm and humor on the road to self-acceptance. This screening will be available October 26 – 30, 2022.

If you’ve been captivated by the images from the James Webb Space Telescope, join us for a screening of the documentary The Hunt for Planet B between November 4-7. The documentary captures the human drama behind the building of most ambitious space observatory ever. The film interweaves the creation of this massive machine with the story of a pioneering group of female scientists on a quest to find life beyond our solar system.

Enjoy both films from the comfort of your home! There will be email communications to members on how to view each film.

The anticipated online member community launches on October 17! This is the perfect way to connect with members across the globe. Share your research, ask questions, and gain support from your network of STEM professionals.

AWIS members can access these film screenings and the online member community as part of their member benefits. For anyone wishing to join AWIS, now is a great time! Tell your friends, colleagues, or family members too, or give them an AWIS membership.
